FAQs about the Dissident Project
Who are we?
The Dissident Project features young people from around the world who have escaped communist, socialist, or generally autocratic governments.
What is a Dissident?
Someone who speaks out or refuses to conform to official policy or regimes. Specifically, the dissidents we highlight are nonconformists from socialist or communist nations.
What does the Dissident Project do?
The Dissident Project serves effectively as a speakers bureau, providing a platform for dissidents to tell their stories and the perils of authoritarianism.
Who is your primary audience?
While we welcome many opportunities to spread the stories of the dissidents involved in this project, this is primarily geared towards high school students.
Do you charge?
No! The purpose of this project is to spread the stories of those who’ve lived through socialism as widely as possible. We cover the costs of the speakers in order to do so.
Can I request a specific speaker?
Yes! Simply check the box next to your preferred speaker on the booking form.
